Valpolicella: A Terroir of Character and Tradition

Valpolicella: A Terroir of Character and Tradition

Valpolicella, located in the Veneto region, is an internationally renowned wine-growing area, known above all for its robust and intense red wines. The Valpolicella terroir extends over soft hills, with a rich and varied soil ranging from clayey to calcareous, ideal for the cultivation of local grapes such as Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara.

The Wines of Valpolicella: From Amarone to Recioto

Valpolicella is famous for Amarone, a powerful and complex wine, obtained by drying the grapes. Other iconic wines include the Valpolicella Classico, the sweet and aromatic Recioto, and the one-of-a-kind Ripasso. These wines reflect the richness of the terroir and the skill of local producers.

Soave: Elegance and Finesse in White

Soave, also in the Veneto region, is known for its elegant and fragrant white wines, mainly produced with the Garganega variety. Soave's terroir varies from volcanic to calcareous, giving the wines a distinctive minerality and a range of aromatic nuances ranging from flowers to white-fleshed fruits.

The Wines of Soave: From Classical Expression to Innovation

Soave Classico, produced in the oldest hilly areas, is the heart of the expression of this terroir. Some producers are also experimenting with innovative techniques and wood refinements to create versions of Soave that challenge convention, maintaining the typicality and freshness of the varietal.

Viticulture and Sustainability: The Future of Valpolicella and Soave

In both regions, viticulture is moving towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. This not only helps preserve the delicate ecosystems of the terroirs, but also ensures that the wines produced are authentic expressions of their natural environment.

Wine Tourism: A Journey Between Taste and Culture

Valpolicella and Soave offer rich and varied wine tourism experiences. From tastings in historic cellars to walks through the vineyards, each visit is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of wine and discover the history and traditions of these lands.
