Antinori's Solaia 2020 is a wine that tells the story of a unique terroir, Chianti Classico, and of a world-famous winery. This wine is the result of a year characterized by a mild winter and a hot summer but without excesses, conditions which favored optimal growth of the bunches and gradual maturation, completed in the month of September.
The vinification of Solaia 2020 was carried out with great attention, both in the vineyard during harvest and in the cellar. The carefully selected grapes have undergone fermentation and maceration aimed at maintaining a balance between fruit and tannin quality. The malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques enhanced the complexity and pleasantness of the wine, aged for approximately 18 months.
The Solaia vineyard, located at Tenuta Tignanello, extends over approximately 20 hectares on rocky limestone soil, ideal for the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese. The first production of this wine dates back to 1978, and since then it has only been produced in exceptional years.
Solaia 2020 has a ruby red color and an intense and complex bouquet, characterized by notes of berries, black cherry, spices and floral nuances. On the palate, it offers a rich and enveloping entry, with silky tannins that support a long and persistent finish, returning the notes perceived on the nose in the aftertaste.
